Yusuf and Ulrik met as colleagues in Oman, where they worked together as English lecturers and exam writers at a college of technology. They immediately shared an intuitive understanding and appreciation of each other's innovative ideas, and collaborated in the design and implementation of technology-based systems to improve exam assessment and track student progress more accurately. Their shared intuition and innovative collaboration are the cornerstones of Ulrik's brainchild, the Teknilingua method.
In addition to being an experienced English teacher and exam writer, Ulrik also has a degree in IT. Therefore, he works mainly on programming the Teknilingua app, both frontend and backend. Frontend programming is intended to ensure a pleasant and user-friendly experience taking tests and browsing through the learning material. Backend programming is used to analyse the answers students provide, so that the learning material can be custom-made to meet their individual needs.
With more than twenty years of experience teaching English in South Africa, Egypt, the UK and Oman, Yusuf's special skills and interest are in materials development, curriculum design and assessment. He is also an award-winning writer. In leading the creation of content at Teknilingua, he blends his interests in education and writing to create original, fresh, engaging and varied content.
